Diagnosis

H. pylori infections are diagnosed using a combination of tests, including blood tests, breath tests, stool tests, and endoscopy with biopsy. Treatment options for H. pylori infections may include a combination of antibiotics, proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), and other medications to reduce inflammation and manage symptoms.

When to see doctor?

It is important to see a doctor if you are experiencing symptoms of an H. pylori infection, as early diagnosis and treatment can help prevent complications in the form of gastric ulcer with bleeding/ perforation or stomach cancer/stomach lymphoma.

It is important to note that H. pylori infections can be prevented by practicing good hygiene, such as washing your hands regularly, avoiding contaminated food and water, and properly cleaning utensils and cooking surfaces.

If you are diagnosed with an H. pylori infection, it is also important to take all of the prescribed medications as directed and to follow any dietary or lifestyle changes recommended by your doctor to help manage your symptoms and prevent the infection from returning.

It is also important to check for eradication after the treatment.
