Excellency and Experience 

Dr. Desh B. Sharma attended medical school on full scholarship at the highly prestigious University of Jammu (and Kashmir) in India, and graduated in 1998.

He started practicing medicine by age 24 and moved to USA in 2003 when he was 31 years old. Dr. Sharma has experience in psychiatrics, orthopedic medicine, anesthesia plus forensic medicine when he was practicing in India.

Dr. Sharma has completed his residency at the New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn in 2007. New York Methodist Hospital is affiliated with Weill Medical College of Cornell University. He underwent his fellowship training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn and graduated in June 2012.

During his tenure in New York Methodist Hospital, he worked as a chief resident in internal medicine. Dr. Sharma also worked as a hospitalist/internist for one year in Michigan. He is a board certified in Gastroenterology/Hepatology.

Dr. Sharma moved to San Antonio in July 2012 and has been providing care for patient with a wide range of digestive aliments, including colon cancer screening, acid reflux, IBD, IBS, C diff colitis with fecal microbiota transplantation, liver and pancreatic diseases. In his free time he enjoys riding on his motorbike, listening to the music, traveling and adventure sports, including skydiving, bungee jumping and white water rafting.

Dr. Sharma is fluent in English, Hindi and Urdu, a language spoke in Northern India and Pakistan. He and his wife have two children.

Heather is an advanced practice nurse who works in close collaboration with Dr. Sharma to diagnose, prescribe, and manage gastrointestinal conditions. Heather has been an advanced practice provider since 2014 and brings valuable experience in the fields of gastroenterology, urology, and geriatrics to the team.

Heather holds a Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Texas at Austin. Heather is formally trained in adult and geriatric nursing and medical care, and holds Board-Certification as an Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist. She is licensed as a registered nurse (RN) and advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) with prescriptive authority through the Texas Board of Nursing.

Heather loves treating a variety of GI conditions, and generally enjoys listening to patient’s concerns and teaming up with patients to determine the best plan of action for them as individuals. In her spare time, Heather enjoys cooking, hiking, exploring new restaurants, being outdoors, and spending time with friends and family.

Veronica hold’s a Master’s Degree in Nursing from Texas Woman’s University, Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from University of Texas Health Science Center Houston and a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M Kingsville. She is specialized in adult-geriatric population and hold a Board-Certification as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. She is a licensed registered nurse (RN) and advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) with prescriptive authority through the Texas Board of Nursing.

In her free time she love to spend time with her family, travel, fishing and diamond art painting.
